The encapsulating session within which DICOM services are performed. For an ‘SCU’ and an ‘SCP’ to interact, they must ‘associate.’
  • SCU “Ring” – Are you there?
  • SCP “Answer” – Yes, What do you want?
  • SCU “Request” – Can you store this CT object?
  • SCP “Response” – Yes.
  • SCU “Proposal” – Do you speak “JPEG Lossless” or “Implicit Little Endian” for CT objects?
  • SCP “Contract” – I speak “ILE” for CT objects.
  • SCU “Send” – Transfer data
  • SCP “Satisfaction”
  • SCU “Thanks”
